EU REGION-SPECIFIC APPLICATIONS OF THE PRIVACY POLICY

Compliance With GDPR Requirements

Information gathered by MasterControl is done so on an “opt-in” basis. For example, when filling out a form on the website, users must check a box confirming that their information will be gathered in exchange for requested downloadable content. MasterControl’s information collection, protection and processing policies are compliant with the eight “Rights of Data Subjects” delineated in the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Those rights include:

  1. The right to be informed: MasterControl is completely transparent in how we are using personal data (personal data may include individual-specific data such as work email address and work phone number).
  2. The right of access: Individuals have the right to know exactly what information is held about them and how it is processed.
  3. The right of rectification: Individuals are entitled to have personal data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
  4. The right to erasure: Also known as “the right to be forgotten,” this refers to EU users’ right to having personal data deleted or removed without needing to provide a specific reason as to why they wish to discontinue.
  5. The right to restrict processing: Individuals’ right to block or suppress processing of their personal data.
  6. The right to data portability: This right allows users to retain and reuse personal data for their own purposes.
  7. The right to object: In certain circumstances, users are entitled to object to the use of their personal data (i.e., if the company uses personal data for direct marketing or scientific or historical research purposes, or for the performance of a task in the public interest).
  8. Rights of automated profiling and decision making: The GDPR has put in place safeguards to protect individuals against the risk that a potentially damaging decision is made without human intervention. For example, individuals can choose not to be the subject of a decision where the consequence has a legal bearing on them or is based on automated processing.

Who May Process/Control Data

Because we process the information gathered from website visitors that request information, MasterControl is considered a Data Controller/Processor according to the GDPR guidelines. As such, MasterControl may process your personal information pursuant to this Privacy Policy. We take all reasonable care to prevent any unauthorized access to your personal data.

Legal Bases For MasterControl’s Processing Of Personal Data

MasterControl abides by the requisite legal bases for processing personal data set forth in Article 6 of the GDPR. For each piece of data collected:

  • Individuals provide clear consent to have data processed for specific purposes.
  • Processing is necessary for the performance of an agreed upon contract.
  • Processing is necessary for pursuing a legitimate interest (i.e., providing requested information or content, processing mutually agreed upon transactions, etc.).

Cross-Border Data Transfers

As a global business, MasterControl participates in the transfer of personal data to different countries. MasterControl fully assesses the circumstances involving all cross-border data transfers and has suitable safeguards in place as required by the GDPR guidelines (e.g., binding corporate rules and contractual provisions).
