Next-Generation MasterControl™ Quality Management Software Suite Now Available

SALT LAKE CITY – January 6, 2006 – MasterControl Inc., the leading provider of quality management software solutions for regulated industries, today announced the release of the MasterControl™ integrated quality management suite version 5.0.

The latest version of MasterControl offers enhancements across the entire suite, including more robust change management, analytics, and search capabilities, new training control, forms, and e-mail integration features, more powerful collaboration features, and streamlined workflow. MasterControl is an ideal solution for use across the enterprise because it's designed to effectively handle quality, business, and other processes that are critical to compliance with FDA, ISO, and SOX requirements.

The MasterControl suite is a configurable, off-the-shelf, and fully integrated solution consisting of the following key applications: MasterControl Documents™, MasterControl Forms™, MasterControl CAPA™, MasterControl Training™, MasterControl Audit™, MasterControl Customer Complaints™, MasterControl Change Control™, and MasterControl SOX?.

In keeping with MasterControl's goal to help customers not only attain but sustain compliance, the company continuously develops new methods to reduce the time involved in validating a system and keep validation costs down. It offers comprehensive, full-cycle validation, including IQ, OQ, and PQ validation tests. The following is a summary of MasterControl 5.0's features:

Ease-of-use
MasterControl is popular for its easy-to-use features. With version 5.0, what's easy has become easier because many processes have been streamlined. For example:

  • Easy to View: A user can find and view any document with just two clicks of a mouse.
  • Easy to Search: A standardized "Google-like" search window is available throughout the application, which means you can do a search from anywhere in the system.
  • Easy to Administer: System administrators can edit InfoCards (the MasterControl tool that provides basic information about a document) en masse, instead of individually. Additionally, system administrators can bulk import training-related information (courses, job codes, etc.) and automatically initialize the MasterControl training system based on employee's current completed training.
  • Easy to Train: Regulatory bodies are increasingly seeking proof of personnel competency, such as tests. However, creating and administering tests (on top of preparing and conducting the training) is an additional burden that many companies are unprepared to deal with. MasterControl automates this daunting task, allowing the creation, assignment, and even automatic grading of online tests.

 

Connected
A quality or business process inherently follows a sequence, which makes connectivity critical in any quality management system. MasterControl takes connectivity a step higher in version 5.0 by linking people with data and processes in new ways.

  • Offline Forms: Off-site and traveling users or external parties (customers, vendors) can complete forms without being connected to the MasterControl system. They can complete forms offline and then upload.
  • Form-to-Form Launching: A form can be launched directly from another form, connecting one process to the next. Not only does MasterControl streamline this process, but it also maintains the links so one can review a completed process and see what triggered that process.
  • Dependent Routing: Completion of a task can be made dependent on another task to ensure that a user goes through all his/her assignments. This also reduces cycle time because users are immediately prompted to their next task.

 

Customer-driven
MasterControl continuously addresses customer requests. The following are some of the enhancements developed based on customer input.

  • Offline Forms: Off-site and traveling users or external parties (customers, vendors) can complete forms without being connected to the MasterControl system. They can complete forms offline and then upload.
  • Record Retention: With MasterControl, a company doesn't have to keep sensitive records longer than it needs to. A new feature gives the option to retain records according to company policy ? anywhere from 24 hours to several years. Retention can be configured by document type.
  • Document Review: Regulatory agencies require periodic review for certain types of documents. This feature automates review tasks by allowing a review period to be configured by document type. A task will be generated for users who are part of the review route.
  • Document Templates: Version 5.0 enhances both control and ease of use by providing the option of configuring document templates to allow specific information to be defaulted when a certain type of InfoCard is created. This feature automatically provides the proper format for the document, allows routing of the document with just one click, and ensures that the document is sent to the correct virtual vault.
  • E-mail Repository: As more and more people conduct business via e-mail, there's a growing need to control e-mail messages. With this feature, users can forward important e-mail messages to the MasterControl system, where it can be managed within a secure environment and combined with records retention to automatically expunge sensitive documents when they are no longer required.
